TESTIMONIALS

We've been a bit slack with regards to this, hassling for testimonials,
but times are changing...
Dear Bridgette, Jim and the rest of the REACT team,
Thank you so much for running the second week of art activities for under the sea themed Maker Mayhem, Capital E’s school holiday programme, October 2017.
You were fabulous and easy to work with; super creative, professional, collaborative, responsive, organised, adaptable and welcoming, and you are incredibly talented artists.
The whole REACT team managed all the details of running the week long workshop really well. The selection of craft materials you supplied were varied and plentiful. You were all really friendly and approachable, and made sure to encourage shy or unsure children to participate. We particularly appreciated the way you all respected children as artists and creators in their own right, supporting the children’s’ own making rather than overly directing their individual activities.
It was a delight to see how proud the children were of what they were doing, and it was great to observe Bridget and Jim giving the children guidance with autonomy to take charge of the group projects like the large scale octopus and jellyfish. It was also wonderful to see how engaged and involved all the children and their families were, and how well you worked with them – a true collaboration. We had a lot of families returning on other days because they had so much fun.
Your and the children’s creations looked awesome in our Christmas installation, they really added to the overall experience, and the children who came to play and who had been part of your workshops loved spotting their creations on the large reef you created on the wall.
We are really happy and impressed with the process and results you delivered. Working together with you has been a fun and enjoyable process, and we look forward to working with you again in the future.
Kind regards,
Karen Carey

Junk & Disorderly have become a very integral part of our show. Their expertise with the use of recycled materials, construction of costumes has been invaluable to both us as organisers and the students. This year they are designing the set for our show, this will be made by various groups of children, making the show a real community event.
As our show grows we are attracting many more students from new schools. These new schools and their students need support. Junk and Disorderly know the vision of our show and understand the high standard of our entries. Because of this they can run skills workshops for our new and past students to teach them the basics about using recycled materials, constructing a costume and how to go from design to finished garment. They are able to help and give guidance while still letting it remain the students own ideas and work.
I see Junk & Disorderly as partners in Evento, we find them inspiring, they relate extremely well to both students and organisers, they understand our show and what we are trying to achieve. They can see how good this show is for our young designers and how important it is for Feilding.

Junk and Disorderly Paper Workshop

This was open to all our students who entered the Paper Section of our Wearable Art Show.
It was not as well attended as I had hoped but those who did attend gained massive amounts of practical skills and knowledge on how to work with paper. The beauty of working with a group such as J&D is that they have already used the products and learnt the best ways to solve problems and can help the students with their individual designs.
I learnt an awful lot and would love to have J&D work with our students in 2011 to encourage them use more recycled materials in their costumes. Also to work with the students/schools who are entering our show for the first time to teach them the skills about structure and strength and give them the confidence to make their own amazing creation.
The paper doll workshops that evolved from the original paper workshop were fantastic not only for promoting our show but also for giving a wide range of children a hands on experience with paper in a controlled situation. These dolls looked amazing at the show and we had many, many comments about them.
I run a child care centre and we took our children from a holiday program to the Feilding Library to help decorate the dolls which they thoroughly enjoyed. It was wonderful that all ages could get involved and if they didn't want to decorate a large doll they could make a small one to take home. It was really well resourced and well run, Bridgette is incredibly patience small children tend to ask the same questions many times and need very active supervision and she is brilliant at this.
I would welcome the chance to work with J&D again either through childcare or with wearable art they are both professional, approachable and happy to share their knowledge with adults and children.

Dear Bridgette (Junk & Disorderly)

We were thrilled with the response to your Paper Dolls sessions in the Library.
Because of the prior advertising all our sessions were well attended and it was just great to see so many parents
joining in with their children and creating wonderful designs of their own.
Being able to display the Paper Dolls for the next couple of months after the programme created a lot of interest from our public
with many favourable comments.
If you were to run anything similar again we would love to be involved.
Many thanks - Jennie
