Would your school or group love to be in the Christmas Parade with a Giant creation? What is Giant Making?
Pupils learn 3D Structure building with sustainable resources, creating a Sculpture that is wholly theirs.
They experience the joy of teamwork to produce communally something larger than themselves as individuals.
They gain pride and pleasure in showing off their creation in a public parade and inspire others to get involved in community events.
Each Giant Puppet will take a full school day to create with students. We arrive in the morning and brainstorm ideas with the pupils and democratically decide which idea will be made – it can be absolutely anything but always comes from the pupils themselves.
We then make the structure with stripped willow and cover with tissue adding colour for decoration. We grow the willow here at REACT.
Later when all is dry we return and transform the sculpture into a paradable puppet – fitting bamboo frames and backpacks or wheels.
If a full day workshop does not work for your group, please suggest alternatives.
Ideal workshop numbers are around 20-30.
The Giant workshop would take place in late October and November.
We will need a space to work in large enough to accommodate a Giant!
Double classrooms that open between work well, as do school halls. Double doors to the outside are best.
