Feb -March Festival of Cultures, Palmerston North. Giant Congo Mama built with Congolese community for parading at Market Day, and Giant Tiger Lantern created by J&D for First Palmerston North Lantern Procession.

May – August – Wearable Arts Projects around the Manawatu district for show at Manfield Park. Workshops included Tips and Techniques for entrants to Paper category, After school wearable art workshops for Rangiwahia pupils, and Giant Paper Doll project holiday programme at The Feilding Library and Feilding & Districts Art Society. (worked with over 250 participants).

March – Festival of Cultures, Palmerston North. 2 workshops with the Ethnic Centre creating Chinese Dancing Lady and Mama Polynesia for Multi-cultural Festival Day.

May, June – Lantern Procession, Feilding. 14 workshops including schools and Community Open Days, working on Lanterns, Sculptures and Junk Orchestra for Procession in July. Included workshops at J & D base.
August – Living Stucture Workshop, Rangiwahia. Built a living structure with tunnel at base in Rangiwahia with adults as part of Feilding's Community Education.
September – Living Hut with tunnel for ASAP holiday programme, Feilding.

Full Term Artist in Residence program supported by Ministry of Education.
Working with all age groups in preparation for full school production to celebrate opening of new area school 2009.
Funding just confirmed from Creative Communities Manawatu for Lantern Procession and winter celebration 2009. Along with sustainable lit sculptures we will also be encompassing new elements, with funding for Rob Thorne to run percussion workshops to form a junk orchestra.

In Kidzown space making communal Giant withie & tissue Piranha, plus windwands, masks and costumes for Sunday site procession.

One week residency. Theme : Magic
Working with select third form group on giants, both withie and tubing, props and costumes for self created piece to music. Using same group of students as peer tutors for rest of form (300 students) to aid in creation of own pieces for showing. Main pieces taken to Feilding Christmas Parade.

Taihape Area School Visit Junk & Disorderly!
A bus of 23 students and 3 teachers came to visit us for the day and we set about the creation of a beautiful dragon/taniwha. Very enjoyable and successful day that has led to Artists in Residence for J & D (see ‘upcoming’)

Papanui Junction School visit Junk & Disorderly
A visit from a school of 5, plus teacher, mum and toddler. Our first at home visit by a school to the Dairy Factory. We sat under the tree making lanterns and talking about withies, sustainability and the environment and had a lovely time. Went and visited them for decoration of lanterns a week later.

Sigmund the Sea Monster arises from the sea weed. Our first kindergarten job and much fun. Used in the Christmas Parade in Feilding.
