Lanterns 2018
Year of the Dog

Picture
Wow! How much fun can you have in Palmy North on a Saturday night? Flippin' heaps!!
Big Cheers to the crowds who came out to join us to make it such a success.
Major acknowledgement to those who came and performed : Kanister, Tanu Shree Gupta and Namita Pradhan of Shree Dance Academy, Cante Conmigo, Massey Fire Club, Mongolian dancers and The Palmerston North Chinese School of Dance.
And to Massey Chinese Students Association and various Palmy individuals and families who stepped up to help carry Centrepieces on the night, it wouldn't be much of a Parade without all your helping hands.
All the Lanterns made in the previous weeks bring the sparkle to the night, so thanks to the community for coming in and making, we love meeting you all and seeing what you produce.
All above photos thanks to Warwick Smith, excepting where captioned otherwise.
Manawatu Standard article about the night: We're now officially a 'tradition' ;)
www.stuff.co.nz/manawatu-standard/news/102364238/palmerston-north-tradition-draws-large-crowd-to-lantern-parade

To our community of Lantern Makers, some we met for the first time, and some who come back annually.
We love helping you grow your skills and are delighted annually by the breadth of design and decoration that occurs.
Here's just a small example of what came out of the workshops.
Big thanks to Sarah and Winnie for Kaeckebroed and more Bamboo to keep us going just when it was needed most.
Photos thanks to Mihiteruarewa Rangitaawa (Rangi).
Massive Thanks to Palmerston North City Council for Major funding and Central Energy Trust for additional funding.

Delighted to be given Artistic Direction for this years Parade, REACT have an exciting night planned for 2018's Year of the Dog Celebrations. Kanister will again be joining us both on stage and for the Procession, and we'll be partying a bit longer after.
The Parade is on Saturday March 17th from 7pm.
