For a Well Woven Life
Handcrafted Willow Coffins grown and woven here in the Northern Manawatū
For a very handcrafted farewell, come & talk to us.
We are happy to provide a personalised service, with an artisanal approach to burials.
All willow used in our coffins is grown here, and all Coffins are provided fully lined with unbleached calico and a small calico pillow stuffed with wool.
Handles are rope laid through a wooden handle for comfort.
For a low impact solution to Burials, our base boards are repurposed shipping crates that are turned into plywood.
We turn them into bases by weaving our renewable coppiced willow withies into a coffin. This is in keeping with REACT kaupapa. We would prefer to 'reuse' for our bases, however if you have special wood you would like to use for the base board, this can be negotiated.
The wooden handles are from pruning's around the place and may be plum, hazel, oak or any variety of fruit tree. They are laced onto rope that is woven into the entire horizontal structure for ideal weight distribution.

Natural Burials- A natural burial is one that allows the body to recycle naturally and have as little environmental impact as possible. In natural burials it is common to plant trees or shrubs (usually natives) over the burial site. Our woven coffins are approved for natural burial sites
They are also fine for internment in all other burial sites. For cremation, slim runners will need to be attached to the base so they roll ok over rollers used in cremation process. We can do this with prior notice. |
